2017 Annual Meeting

Posted by LWATC WebMaster on Monday, September 25, 2017 8:59:00 PM

Well another annual meeting has come, and gone. We were short of a 10% quorum this year by about 30 people, so the annual meeting was adjourned and the regular monthly meeting commenced. As there was not a quorum, the board was voted to serve again, unanimously.

We are already receiving bids for the wall cleaning and masonry repair. If you know of someone that is in this type of work, please have them submit a bid to the management company via the CONTACT menu of our website. Following the cleanup and masonry repair we'll have to then consider painting any damaged or repaired areas, and once again if you have someone in mind please have them submit a bid.

Following the meeting we had several questions from those in attendance:
  • How much time do we have to make fencing repairs?
This is difficult to say, as some insurance companies are asking that you make no repairs until your claim adjuster for hurricane damage can complete their reviews. So please use your best judgement for now

  • Who is responsible for damaged fences if my yard borders with a neighbor?
There are a couple of answers on this. One, is to call the county, and they should be able to let you know which house drew up the original permit, and that house would be responsible. Another answer is to contact your neighbor and see if they will share in the cost.

  • Why can't we have vinyl fencing?
See that answer in our past blog post: CLICK HERE

  • How close up to the front of my house can my rear fencing come forward?
We are researching this and will post an update when that information becomes available.
For the most part, everyone was very civil... for the most part. There were some accusations thrown, and some vulgarity slung (none by the board), but the vast majority of those that attended were level headed, and we appreciated seeing you all there and hope that next year we will see even more.

Keep in mind that your board are a team of "volunteers". We do not get a dime for serving you, or the community, and we do try (to the best of our ability) to make this community a great place to live. Likewise, our management company works hard to ensure that the community stays within the standards set forth in our governing documents.

If you have questions that were not addressed at the meeting, feel free to click on that CONTACT menu on our site and we'll get back to you.
